United in Celebration: International Night
On Thursday night, Wiley Elementary School hosted its annual International Night, a vibrant celebration of global cultures. The festivities commenced with a parade, as students proudly waved flags symbolizing their grade-level continents to the tunes of "Hello" by Global Wonders and Waka Waka. The 2nd and 3rd graders from the Global Dance Elective also showcased their skills on stage.
The event's MC, Assistant Principal Ware, kept spirits high and ensured everything proceeded without a hitch.
The evening began with multilingual welcome messages and announcements, featuring Wiley Students English: Devronae and Aniyah, Chinese: Linus, French: Mars, German: Channing, Japanese: Gala, and Spanish.
A series of culturally diverse performances ensued, highlighting the rich tapestry of talent at Wiley Elementary School. The acts featured Spanish, French, Japanese, and German musical numbers, as well as a traditional Chinese Lion Dance Troupe, symbolizing good luck and prosperity.
Wiley Elementary School students also displayed their vocal prowess, with kindergarten and music students singing "Hello!" and the Singing Stars, comprising 4th and 5th graders, performing an Irish folk song, "Óró mo bháidín."
Besides the musical and dance acts, the Wiley Foundation Presentation took place during intermission, emphasizing the Foundation's significance and its support for Wiley Elementary School's students and teachers.
The night concluded with a lively Afro-Caribbean dance and closing words from Assistant Principal Ware, expressing gratitude to everyone for their participation in the International Carnival.
