2023 / 24 Chess Club Updates
Starting from the next academic year, we are delighted to announce a new partnership with Triangle Chess for our after-school Chess Club catered to experienced players. This development follows the retirement of our resident chess expert, Jerry Nolte. Meanwhile, TEK Clubs will continue their fantastic work with our beginning players.
If you are not familiar, Triangle Chess is a highly respected organization that conducts chess programs for numerous public and private schools, including St. David's, Raleigh School, Joyner, and many others.
Here's a brief overview of how we plan to structure the chess program for the 2023 / 24 school year.
Beginning Players - (usually K-1st graders but all grades welcomed)
The program will be offered through TEK
There will be three, 6-week sessions, held after school on Tuesdays.
The schedule is yet to be determined and will be finalized by TEK and Wiley admin.
Experienced Players - (usually 2nd -5th graders but experienced younger players are welcomed)
The program will be offered through Triangle Chess
There will be two, 8-week sessions, held after school at Wiley on Wednesdays
The chess program will commence on Wednesday, September 20th, providing ample time to wrap up the first session before Thanksgiving and aligning with local chess tournaments
