Fall Afterschool Clubs

Clubs run Tuesday afternoons for 6 weeks from 4:15 - 5:30pm (Students remain at Wiley upon dismissal and are supervised until clubs begin).

The Wiley PTA coordinates three six-week sessions of clubs throughout the school year. The clubs are administered by TEK, which pays our teachers to lead the clubs. Participation in clubs supports our teachers. TEK will send club placement information once registration is closed.


Club Dates: Tuesdays, 9/24 - 10/29/24

Registration Opens: Friday, 8/30

STEAM Stories - Fall Fun! 

Grades K-1, Taught by Sharon Abel 

Are you bonkers for good books? Then this is the club for you! Each week, Ms. Abel  will share some of her favorite Fall books, teach important literacy skills and connect it all to a STEAM activity. We will read some exciting titles such as Runaway Pumpkins, and melt our homemade pumpkins, The Leaf Thief, and create a sneaky squirrel, and much more!  This club will be a fun-filled way for your child to improve their reading confidence, vocabulary, creativity, and communication skills. Come see how much fun books and STEAM can be! 


Chess Mates 

Grades K-5, Taught by Molly Strom and Mackenzie Dull

Come learn all about the exciting game of chess! This playful clear-cut game encourages problem solving and analytical skills, positive self-esteem, as well as verbal and memory reasoning. Join the chess club and become a critical thinker as you learn the skills to play this fun, thought provoking game. This club is geared to beginner and intermediate players. Repeat club members welcome- we’ll pick up right where we left off!


Crazy Quilts with Madame Penny

Grades 2-5, Taught by Erica Penny 

In this creative club students will create their very own mini crazy quilt from start to finish in this sewing circle.  Students will learn to hand sew, use a sewing machine (supervised), and learn the steps to making a quilt.  We will also read some children’s story books about quilts as we learn all about the art of quilting!

Scrapbooking Club

Grades 2-5, Taught by Payton Cummings  

Do you love to create and express yourself? Then this is the club for you! During our time together, students will learn how to create memories through imagination, magazines, art, and so much more. Each week we will work on our scrapbooks with weekly themes.  On the last day of the club, students will have the opportunity to present their scrapbooks to classmates! Scrapbooking is a GREAT way to make new friends, express yourself through art,  and make keepsakes!

What’s Your Inspiration? Exploring Artists and Creating Art

Grades 2-5, Taught by Mary Jane Thompson 

Have you ever wondered why an artist made a piece of artwork? How did they think to use that medium? If so, then come be a part of this creative, hands-on club! Each week we will study famous artists from the 20th Century and talk about the ideas behind their pieces of art. Then, students will create an art piece in that artist’s style. We will explore various art mediums such as painting, fiber art, sculpture, pastel, and much more. Come join us for this amazing art experience!


Jump Into Jewelry

Grades 3-5, Taught by Katie Ware

They say that not all that glitters is gold but you will definitely develop the Midas touch in this club.  A unique club, led by Ms. Ware, you will learn a variety of jewelry-making techniques and also get to design your own wearable works of art. Make gifts for friends and family or add all your new creations to your flashy wardrobe. Join this cool club and get ready to create one of a kind jewelry!


Serve it up! Volleyball Club

Grades 3-5, Taught by Mr. Ziemba

Are you interested in learning and developing skills in volleyball? During this fun filled club, you will learn the rules, fundamentals, and skills to play volleyball! Emphasis will be placed on developing volleyball skills, having fun and working together as a team, and learning to enjoy a new sport. Good sportsmanship and team cooperation will be required and stressed. Come join the ultimate volleyball club at Wiley Magnet Elementary!


STEM-Makerspace

Grades 3-5, Taught by Mr. Q

Do you like creative exploration, engineering, tinkering and inventing? Do you enjoy thinking "outside of the box"? Join us for this one of a kind club where we will have opportunities to discover, assemble, construct and share inventions created for use in our community. We will  create robotic hands, homemade harmonicas, straw roller coasters, and more! You will even have time to plan your invention, create and ultimately share with your school community. You don’t want to miss the chance to join our TEK Makerspace Club!
