Winter Club Topics Announced

Wiley Afterschool Clubs run on Wednesday afternoons from 4:15-5:30 pm. The Winter Session will run for six weeks, from January 25 - March 1, 2023.

The Wiley PTA coordinates three six-week sessions of clubs throughout the school year. The clubs are administered by TEK, which pays our teachers to lead the clubs. Participation in clubs supports our teachers.

Registration opens on January 3rd at 6pm and closes on January 12th at 5pm.

What’s the Word? - Yearbook Club

Grades 3-5 >> Taught by Katie Ware 

Want to help plan and design the 2022-2023 yearbook? Have you ever been interested in publishing stories about the comings and goings of the Wiley community? Or designing art/photos for a cool publication? Current events, sports, comics, advice columns-come join the yearbook club to keep the entire Wiley Community in the know!

Winter Wonders - Exploring STEAM and Literature

Grades K-1  >> Taught by Sharon Abel

Do you ever wonder why it snows, how animals stay warm in the Arctic, or if there is anything colder than ice? Join us and all the answers to these questions with Ms. Abel. Each week she will share some of her favorite Winter books, teach important literacy skills and connect it all to a craft project, a science project, or a yummy snack. This club will be a fun-filled way for your child to improve their reading confidence, vocabulary, creativity, and communication skills. Join us as we discover what makes winter wonderful!

Chess Mates

Grades K-5 >> Taught by Molly Strom and Mackenzie Dull

Come learn all about the exciting game of chess! This playful clear-cut game encourages problem solving and analytical skills, positive self-esteem, as well as verbal and memory reasoning. Join the chess club and become a critical thinker as you learn the skills to play this fun, thought provoking game. Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate or an experienced chess player, you will have an amazing time all while sharpening your mind! Players will be grouped according to their level and instruction will be given for appropriate levels. Repeat students welcomed and encouraged! 

How Did You Invent That? - Investigating Famous Inventors with Cool Projects

Grades 1-3 >> Taught by Morgan Outler 

Calling all inventors, creators, builders, and designers! Each week in this club, we will learn about a famous inventor and how they changed the way we live in our world. Ms. Outler will share some of her favorite books on these inventors and connect it all to a cool hands-on project. Get ready to create, learn, and discover in this innovative club!

Edible Science - Fun with Food

Grades 2-5 >> Taught by Quentin Murray (Mr. Q)

Come join us as  we head on a mission where we will explore the world of science and food with cool experiments. There is a lot of science that goes into the everyday foods that you love. Each session we will learn the key scientific principles behind our food exploration. Get ready to concoct your own fizzy lemonade, explore candy chromatography, create a cranberry volcano, and much more.  Don't miss out on all this fun with food and science!
